Translation
Origin of the word "translation":
latin translatus
- "carried across"
Automatic web translation tools try to reduce the art of translation to
a mathematical search for direct word equivalents in the source and
target languages. The result is often incomprehensible, at times
hilarious!

Personal Background and Experience
Having spent 11 years as an accountant
in England, I
decided to move to France in 2000 and for two years I dedicated myself
to perfecting my French at Lille III university in the north of France.
During these first few years on foreign soil I experienced what is
called "culture shock". In my search to become integrated
into
French culture, I went through times of frustration, felt
misunderstood and my self-confidence was shaken.
However, today I possess treasures that money cannot
buy -
understanding two cultures and feeling at home in either of them!
International communication is still the great challenge of our
time. Cutting corners when it comes to translation work can
lead
to more confusion than enlightenment; a working knowledge of the source
and target cultures is essential to preserve the quality of your
documents and their import.
The financial sector possesses its own culture and jargon. My
professional background has given me the necessary skills to ensure
your financial and business documents will be understood by your
English-speaking
colleagues and clients.
